OBITUARY
William Mark Greathouse was born on December 4, 1946, in Franklin, TN, and entered heaven on September 23, 2019, after battling pancreatic cancer for a year. He was born to William M. and Ruth N. Greathouse, who preceded him in death. Mark attended Isaac Litton High School and Trevecca Nazarene College, where he met Jan Milby, whom he married in 1967. He is survived by Jan; two sisters, Rebecca (Ted) Martin and Beth (Mike) Sykes; two sons—William Matthew (Laureen Crampsey) and Joseph Wesley (Angelique Spehr); eight granddaughters—Katherine (Austin) Turner, Hannah, Mary, Mercedes, Lucia, Vivian, Josephine, and Beatrice; and two great-grandsons.
For 23 years Mark and Jan lived in Greensburg, and Mark managed the E. J. Milby Builders Supply in Greensburg and was a partner in Milby Lumber Co. in Campbellsville. Mark was active in the community and made many friends in Greensburg. They later moved to Nashville, where Mark worked for Wholesale Hardwood Interiors (WHI), also located in Campbellsville. He retired from WHI in 2015.
Mark loved people, starting with his family; his Christian faith; and music. He loved any family activity. He was a devout follower of Christ, serving in small and large roles in his denomination. In 2007 he founded the Heritage Men's Chorale (HMC), a group that now numbers 60plus men from many careers and denominations. HMC has allowed Mark to continue to express his faith in beautiful Christian music.
Mark's life will be celebrated in a service at First Church of the Nazarene, 520 Woodland St., Nashville, TN 37076, on Sept. 29, 2019, at 6PM with visitation from 3 to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Heritage Men's Chorale, c/o Harold McCue, 231 Green Harbor Rd., Old Hickory, TN 37138-1025. To donate to the Chorale online, visit the Phillips-Robinson website.
