Obituary

O B I T U A R Y

Clyde David Taylor, born July 16, 1968 in Michigan, departed this life on September 20, 2026 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his children and loved ones. He was 58 years old.

Clyde was a certified jack of all trades. He spent his early adulthood serving in the U.S. Army National Guard, and later dedicated his life to a series of career paths. He was a skilled carpenter, lifelong farmer, and entrepreneur. There is nothing he enjoyed more than working. He didn't like vacation. It was his life's joy to be busy and even when doctors and loved ones told him to "take it easy," it was never a consideration for him. Clyde was funny. He was a storyteller and a fixer. His happiest times were spent in a room filled with friends and family. Though he claimed he "wasn't a picky eater," he had many opinions about what was on the menu.

His greatest joy was when his kids and grandkids were tearing the house apart, playing pranks on each other, fighting over spoons on holidays, or playing hide and seek - even as full-grown adults. One of his lasting qualities was his ability to build community. He had a knack for bringing people together, giving others a chance, and welcoming friends into his life in ways that often turned them into family. Over the years, he created a wide circle of people who found friendship, connection, and belonging alongside him. Clyde was one of one and will be missed beyond measure.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Taylor.

He leaves behind three brothers: Danny Taylor (Diane), Jim Taylor (Laura), and Lary Taylor (Laini); four children: Amber Marie Upchurch (Jesse), Tiffany Jeanette Smith (Daniel), David Harris Taylor (Makayla), and Gabrielle Starr Decker (Tyler); eight grandchildren: Tinzlea and Ty Upchurch, Ellie and Reagan Taylor, Hendrix Smith, Katelee and Karson Peay, and Weston Richard; and three bonus children: Eric Richard (Jessa), Courtney Bush (Colton), and Cameron Turner. He also leaves behind a large host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
