Obituary for Virginia Mae Arnett Akin

Mrs. Virginia Mae Arnett Akin of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Louis Thomas Arnett and Goldie Nelson Arnett, was born on Tuesday, August 18, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Green Hill Rehab and Care Center. She was 87 years, 4 months, and 8 days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Calvary Temple Church and was a retired Machine Operator at Fruit of the Loom.
She united in marriage to Wesley Akin Jr. on February 26, 1947 who preceded her in death on January 7, 1991.
Survivors include one daughter and two sons-in-law: Linda Carol and Don Bennett of Columbia, and Danny Ray Bryant of Greensburg; five grandchildren: Angie and Chris Hudgins, Erica and B. J. Whitlow, Richard and Betty Burris all of Greensburg, Adam Bennett of Columbia, Crystal and Richard Pierce of Ohio; nine great-grandchildren: Jalyn and Jarrod Mays, Kirsten Whitlow, Kellen Whitlow, Tanlee Hudgins, Brooke Burris all of Greensburg, Wesley and Jessicia Burris of Columbia, Richard Nathaniel Pierce, Jeremiah Pierce, Cherish Pierce all of Ohio; four great-great grandchildren: Barrett Mays, Liam Mays, Judah Burris and one on the way Baiyler Mays; three brothers and four sisters: Clayton Arnett of Hart County, Noah Arnett of Hardyville, Catherine Simpson of Central City, Ruth Simpson, Nettie Creason, Raymond Arnett, Ruby Milby all of Greensburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Akin was also preceded in death by one daughter: Brenda Joyce Akin Bryant; five brothers and a sister: Frank Arnett, Ed Arnett, Robert Arnett, Carl Arnett, Woodson Arnett, and Martha Edwards.

The funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Mae Akin will be conducted at 11:00A.M, Central Time, Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Liberty Church Cemetery. Bro. Troy McQuater and Bro. David South officiating.
Visitation is requested from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Sunday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Monday until time of the funeral service.
Memorials are suggested to the Liberty Church Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
