Obituary for Gary M. Ervin

O B I T U A R Y
Dr. Gary M. Ervin, son of the late Mitchell Ervin and Norma Ervin Chaney, was born on Friday, June 16, 1950 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky and departed this life on Monday, July 29, 2019 at his home in Greensburg, Kentucky. He was 69 years, one month, and 13 days of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ in 1963 and was called into ministry in 1968. Dr. Ervin was a 1968 graduate of Metcalfe County High School. He graduated from Campbellsville College in 1973 obtaining a Bachelors in History and Religion, he then attended Western Kentucky University in 1977 for his Masters in Secondary Education and Teaching, he then went on to receive his Doctorate PhD in Religion from the Luther Rice Seminary in 1981. Dr. Ervin formerly taught at Metcalfe County School for 32 years and was also a homebound teacher for Metcalfe and Barren County Schools. He was the minister at Bethlehem Baptist Church for 46 years and then became a member of the Riverside Baptist Church.
Dr. Ervin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marcella Hubbard Ervin of Greensburg, having united in marriage on June 20, 1970.
He is also survived by three sisters and three brothers-in-law: Carol England Chaney and her husband, Roger of Edmonton, Nancy Lou and Anthony Shoultz of Glasgow, and Tammy Denise and Rodney Deckard of Edmonton; a brother and sister-in-law: Bobby Lynn & Sherry Ervin of Edmonton; four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Betty Jeaniene and Fred Shirley of Glasgow, Terry Wayne and Kim Hubbard, Teresa Faye and Jack Shive all of Edmonton, Stella Diane and Mark Ballou of Tennessee and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dr. Gary M. Ervin was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law Stevie Allen Hubbard.

The funeral services for Gary M. Ervin will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Central Time, Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Bro. Roger Robertson, Bro. Gary Landis, Bro. Brian Fannin and Bro. Byron VanArsdale officiating.
Visitation is requested from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Central Time, Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Friday until time for the funeral service.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Riverside Baptist Church Building Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
