Mary Hazel Cross

Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Charles Edward Davenport and Leora Francis Moran Davenport, was born on May 10, 1931 in Green County and departed this life on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 85 years, 10 months, and 15 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a retired machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc., and a member of the Greensburg Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #232.

She united in marriage to Paul Vernon Cross on December 3, 1946 who preceded her in death on March 15, 1993.

Survivors include three grandchildren: Michael Magruder, Karrie Geary both of Louisville, and Angie Eirich of Berea; three sisters and two brothers: Ollye M. Clark, Carlos Davenport both of Louisville, Randy E. Davenport, Gayle Holland both of Greensburg, and Genevieve Buckner of Hodgenville; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; extended family: Ed and Gretchen Rogers and their families; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Cross was also preceded in death by a daughter: Wanda Young on May 6, 2014; and a brother: William Thomas Davenport in 1935.


The funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hazel Davenport Cross will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Davenport Cemetery. Bro. Garnett Wayne Davis and Bro. William Davenport officiating.

Visitation is requested after 10 A.M., Monday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.

Memorials are suggested to the Davenport Cemetery or the Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.
